YAM Tengku Baderul Zaman Ibni Sultan Mahmud was appointed to the Board on 30 July 2018 as Independent Non-Executive Director and re-designated as Chairman on 1 January 2019.
YAM Tengku holds a Degree in Business Administration from American University, United Kingdom. After completing his higher education in England, YAM Tengku began his career with the Berjaya Group, a diversified conglomerate listed on Bursa Malaysia and since then has been in several other listed companies including a construction company and a company supplying industrial chemicals to the oil & gas industry. Currently he is also a director of several other private companies.
Encik Mallek Rizal bin Mohsin was appointed to the Board on 7 May 2009 as Group Chief Executive Officer and re-designated as Executive Vice Chairman on 30 July 2018.
On 1 March 2020, Mallek was re-designated as Non Executive Director.
Mallek holds a Bachelor of Management Studies Degree from the University of Waikato, New Zealand.
He is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants New Zealand (ICANZ). He has extensive working experience at major corporations prior to joining Handal.
Mallek’s past experience includes being an Auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers (formerly known as Price Waterhouse), Assistant Manager of Corporate Finance at Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad, Corporate Services Manager for MTD ACPI Engineering Berhad (formerly known as ACP Industries Berhad), Special Assistant Corporate Finance of the President’s Office for Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad and Chief Financial Officer for Putera Capital Berhad.
Mallek Rizal bin Mohsin was appointed Executive Director of Handal Resources Bhd in 2009. During his tenure, Handal was elevated from an agent to a full-fledged Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Malek was also instrumental in turning Handal from a private company into a public-listed company.
Malek served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Handal before being appointed Executive Vice Chairman of the Group in 2018. As a Non-Executive Director, he continues to share his knowledge and experience with the Board and continues to be a part of Handal’s growth as a strong local Bumiputera company that can provide world-class services in the energy industry.
Sunildeep Singh Dhaliwal was appointed to the Board on 30 July 2018 as Group Managing Director.
Sunil holds a Bachelor of Laws from University of Wales in Swansea, United Kingdom.
In 2008, Sunil and two other shareholders founded Borneo Seaoffshore Sdn Bhd with the vision of becoming an integrated Oil & Gas Service provider. Sunil drove the business commencing with the provision of offshore support vessels in 2010 and the company grew rapidly reaching a turnover of close to RM100 million by 2014.
Having invested in the Provision of Offshore Maintenance Services via Borneo Seaoffshore Engineering (BSOE) in 2006, Sunil successfully established his Group’s reputation for their strong drive and attention to detail. Thus, in 2018, BSOE was able to secure contracts up to a value of RM200 million.
Following the Group’s success in Borneo, Sunil ventured to West Malaysia and set up Seaoffshore Engineering Sdn Bhd as a company for a wider reach in the region. In 2016, Seaoffshore Engineering introduced to Petronas Non-OEM Maintenance of Gas Turbines as a means of cost reduction with reliable partners.
In 2018, Sunil saw the immense potential that Handal had to offer and started investing in Handal shares via Borneo Seaoffshore Sdn Bhd which emerged as a substantial shareholder in July 2018. Sunil was subsequently invited to join the Board as Group Managing Director on 31st of July 2018.
Sunil has previously proven himself in corporate re-engineering when he was appointed as the ED/COO of a Government Linked Company which he successfully turned around to yield sustained positive returns to its shareholders within two years at its helm.
As Group Managing Director of Handal, Sunil is renowned in the industry for his great foresight, substantial network and efficiency in incorporating new technology. As a result-oriented individual, he is the driving force of Handal’s reputation and reliability.
Dato’ Mohammad Medan bin Abdullah was appointed to the Board on 19 December 2016 as Independent Non-Executive Director.
Dato’ Mohammad Medan Abdullah was appointed as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad Group on 1 March 2017, bringing together with him a vast experience of more than 30 years in the Oil & Gas industry.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from University of Malaya in 1982 and an Advanced Management Programme from Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania in year 2007.
His career started in 1982 as a trainee Legal Officer in PETRONAS. He later served as a Legal Officer for five years at PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd. before his appointment as the Legal Adviser for Baram Delta Operations in 1988.
Over the years, he has held numerous critical positions in PETRONAS and PETRONAS Carigali Group of Companies from 1990 until 2007. With his outstanding performance, in 2007, Dato Mohammad Medan was appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia LNG Group of Companies which comprises Malaysia LNG Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia LNG Dua Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia LNG Tiga Sdn. Bhd. and Asean LNG Trading Company Ltd. (Altco).
Simultaneously, Dato Mohammad Medan was also appointed as the Chairman and Board Member of a UK-registered company, PETGAS UK Ltd., which primary responsibility covers trading of LNG and gas in the UK and European markets.
Prior to helming Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad Group, he served as the Managing Director and President (Asia Pacific) of Gazprom Marketing & Trading Pte Ltd (Singapore) where he was entrusted with the role of leading strategic business growth for Gazprom, a gas giant in the Asia Pacific region.
Mior Mokhtar Bin Mior Abu Bakar was appointed to the Board on 28 November 2018 as Independent Non-Executive Director.
Encik Mior is a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA).
Encik Mior has 29 years’ experience with the PETRONAS Group of Companies in areas of financial management, commercial, internal audit & risk management and supply chain management. During his tenure in PETRONAS he held numerous positions including the Vice President Commercial of Trans Thai-Malaysia (Thailand) Pte Ltd, a joint venture between PETRONAS and Petroleum Authority of Thailand.
After leaving PETRONAS, his posts include being appointed as the Deputy General Manager of PT Radiant Bukit Barisan in Jakarta. He is currently the Director of Business Development at Cargomind Sdn Bhd, a company providing logistical support to the oil and gas industry in Malaysia.
Miss Jacqueline Fong Yean Yee was appointed to the Board on 30 July 2018 as Independent Non-Executive Director.
Miss Jacqueline holds a Master of Finance Degree from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia and Bachelor of Laws from University of Bristol, United Kingdom.
She had accumulated 18 years of working experience in the corporate and investment banking sector when she left CIMB Investment Bank in 2015 as Director, Investment Banking. She served CIMB for 14 years in its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, and its other locations, East Malaysia and Jakarta. During her tenure with the bank, she was assigned client coverage roles covering a various clients including multilateral development agencies, government, quasi-government and private sector corporates and was involved in the origination of debt and equity capital market transactions. Prior to CIMB, she had started her career in Utama Merchant Bank Berhad where she was assigned roles in corporate banking, corporate recovery and debt restructuring and debt capital markets.
Terry Biusing was initially appointed to the Board on 15 August 2018 as an Independent Non-Executive Director and subsequently, on 1 January 2020, re-designated as Executive Director and Group Chief Operating Officer.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical / Electronic Engineering from University of Wisconsin – Madison USA.
He brings with him over 28 years of business and operations management experience in the oil & gas sector, through various senior leadership assignment during his stints with notable industry players, namely Royal Dutch Shell and PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd. He was also attached with Cenviro Special Builders, an integrated environmental solutions provider, heading its project management and operational excellence division. Prior to his appointment as Executive Director and Group Chief Operating Officer, he was attached with Wood Group Mustang, a part of Wood Plc, a multinational energy services company which is listed on the London Stock Exchange, where he headed the project and operations management division for one of their major client in Malaysia.
Tengku Munawir was appointed to the Board on 1 March 2020 as Executive Director, Corporate Affairs
Tengku Munawir holds a Bachelor of Business (Management) degree from the Wichita State University, Kansas, USA.
Since joining the workforce in 1999, Tengku Munawir has held various posts with responsibilities ranging from business development, sales, marketing, project management to consulting. He has considerable experience in the technology and services business as well as a broad background in establishing and developing startups.
Tengku Munawir became Director of Operations of Borneo Seaoffshore Engineering on 15 March 2005, overseeing the day-to-day activities to ensure that it is meeting, if not exceeding, all the expectations of the stakeholders and clients. He deals with the operational aspects of the contracts (post-award) – working with external and internal clients, partners and resources to ensure project optimisation.
As the Executive Director overseeing Corporate Affairs, his mandate covers the Group’s Health Safety and Environment, Human Resources Management and Administration Departments.
